PREPARATION

MAINTENANCE

The Day Before: Waxing, pedicures and facials should be done at least one day prior to your tanning session.

The Day of your Tan: Shave and exfoliate with an exfoliating scrub. This will rid the skin of dead skin cells enabling the tan to last longer. Good exfoliation BEFORE you tan is needed to ensure you get an even smooth tan, & to maintain natural fading.

The Average Tan can last anywhere from 5-10 days. Everyone’s skin fades at its own rate. Good PRE-exfoliation, keeping yourself hydrated & moisturizing tan care will improve your fade rate.  First time clients should plan to arrive 5 minutes prior to their appointment time to fill out our new client form.

Fresh Clean Skin: No makeup, perfumes, deodorant, or lotions. These can affect the absorption of DHA (the sunless tanning ingredient) resulting in streaking and minimal color.

Wear dark loose fitting clothes. Spray tan solution washes out of most clothing, but the cosmetic bronzer could wipe off on lighter colored clothes, giving temporary discoloration.  Flip flops are also recommended.

Avoid showering, rain, sweating, and exposure to water for 8 hours.  Be careful when washing hands and other activities as this may cause tan to streak until first shower.

After 8 hours, shower using a body wash or shower gel.  You will notice some brown in the water. This is a good thing, your tan is not washing off! This is just the cosmetic bronzer washing off revealing your actual, beautifully tanned skin underneath.  Avoid exfoliating skin and hair removal products.  (Do not use loofas or washcloths) Avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products, or in shower moisturizers (DOVE soap and products).

Moisturize at least twice a day with a water based lotion. Hydrated skin makes your tan last longer and slows down the process of natural skin exfoliation. Alcohol based products are drying to the skin and can cause a tan to fade quicker and unevenly.  Ask your technician for product suggestions.

Use luke warm water instead of hot when bathing.  Taking long hot baths or soaking in the pool can accelerate exfoliation and fade your tan. When swimming or soaking in hot tub use a waterproof sun screen to act as a barrier between skin and chlorine. The tan will still fade a little but this will slow down the process.

Do not exercise immediately following your tanning session. Excessive perspiration can affect the tanning process and the end result of your tan.

Please note that our solution does not contain sunscreen.  We recommend wearing a sunscreen with SPF while in the sun, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Enjoy your beautiful tan!
